Adrian, MI — The Masco Builder Cabinet Group, the manufacturer of Merillat and Quality Cabinets, is consolidating manufacturing operations and will close its Adrian, MI factory, the founding plant for the Merillat brand.

The closure, set for the second quarter of 2009, will be accompanied by the conversion of the company’s Mt. Sterling, KY factory from the Quality Cabinets brand to Merillat brand cabinets, effective Feb. 1, 2009, MBCG officials said.

Both moves are related to efforts to reduce costs in the face of continued housing declines.
